HOW TO VOLUNTEER FOR MEALS ON WHEELS

 1.     Adopt-a-route

The Meal on Wheels Adopt-a-route program is an easy, yet effective way for companies, organizations, and churches to involve themselves in our local community. With as few as 4-5 people, a group can adopt a route and deliver meals one day a week. Or, 5 people could adopt 5 routes and deliver once a month.  Many participating groups feel the program improves camaraderie, by giving members the chance to work together on a project that serves the community. Please contact Jeanie Glynn, 256-382-0920, or jglynn@seniorview.com, for additional information.

 2.     Delivery Volunteer

Join us as a driver and meet many wonderful homebound seniors we serve in the Huntsville community. Volunteers pick up meals at the Huntsville-Madison County Senior Center, Monday-Friday, between 10:45 and 11:10 a.m. They usually complete delivery by 12:00 noon. You may deliver as often as you like, however, we ask for a minimum commitment of once a month. We currently have 22 routes throughout Huntsville. It takes over 500 volunteers a month to provide this service. If you would like to learn more or to volunteer, submit a Volunteer Form, call Jeanie Glynn at 256-382-0920, or email at jglynn@seniorview.com.

HOW To Receive Meals

Meals on Wheels serves Huntsville seniors age 60 or over, who are unable to cook for themselves, have no one available to cook for them, and are primarily homebound. If you or someone you know is in need of our service, please contact LuAnn Simond, 256-382-0920, or lsimond@seniorview.com.

SERVICE DESCRIPTION

Meals on Wheels provides one nutritious meal Monday-Friday, year round (some holidays excluded). The meals include an entree, vegetable, fruit, bread, and milk.
